ISOI Kochi chapter
The office of the ISOI Kochi chapter functions from the Department of Applied Electronics & Instrumentation, Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology. The chapter members include senior executives of major industries like FACT, HOCL, BPCL, TCC, Cochin Shipyard and faculty of many academic institutions. The chapter meets at the Rajagiri campus to share their experiences and discuss issues relevant to instrumentation and process control.
The Society of Instrumentation professionals was established in the year 1970, with head quarters at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Today it has seven chapters at Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Dehradun, Pune and Kochi. This is a joint effort of industrial organizations and academic institutes, with a vision to bridge the gap between industries and institutes.
The Instrument Society of India is the only official Indian society for Process Control and Instrumentation engineers. The basic objectives of Kochi chapter is
- To bring together those who practice instrumentation and process control and those who teach the subject.
- To increase interaction between the industry and the academia.
- To benefit the student community by this sharing of knowledge and experience
- To contribute in the formation and design of curriculum by universities for under graduate and post graduate courses in instrumentation and process control.
There is also a student chapter of ISOI in RSET. The faculty members and students therefore get a chance for participating in the meetings and interacting with the industry experts. The chapter also conducts various events like quiz, invited talks and seminar competition for students of Instrumentation with appropriate rewards.
