Fr. Dr. Joel George Pullolil
Ph.D. Mechanical Engineering Title: Investigations on Valorisation of Lignocellulosic Biomass through Fluidised Bed Gasification
Professor
DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Fr. (Dr.) Joel George Pullolil is a distinguished academician and professional in the field of Energy Engineering and Management. Dr. Joel, who began his career as a lecturer in 2001 at RSET is currently a Professor in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and an approved Research Guide for Doctoral Studies at APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. A certified Energy Manager and Energy Auditor by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), he plays an active role in Campus Energy Management initiatives. Throughout his career, Dr. Pullolil has been a fervent advocate for sustainable energy and the promotion of green campus initiatives.

He began his educational journey with a B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Government Engineering College, Trivandrum (CET). Thereafter, he pursued Bachelor of Philosophy (B. Ph.) and Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) from Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram, Bangalore and was ordained a Priest in the CMI congregation in 2005. Afterwards, Dr. Joel pursued his M. Tech in Energy Systems and Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, and completed his academic pursuits with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC).

His areas of academic interest are broad and impactful, encompassing energy management, sustainable energy resources, and biomass energy conversion. He has significantly contributed to the academic community through his scientific papers in the field of biomass gasification, and is a peer reviewer for several SCIE indexed international journals. His research interests are in the areas of decision making and output predictions in biomass energy conversion systems based on data analysis through ANN and MCDM.

Dr. Joel's commitment to education, research, and energy conservation extends beyond academia into practical applications that benefit both the community and the environment. He is a Life Member of the Society of Energy Engineers and Managers (SEEM) and an active member of the Energy Conservation Society. Through his efforts, he continues to inspire students and colleagues alike, promoting a vision of sustainable development and energy efficiency.
