American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is the largest engineering professional organization in world for civil engineers. ASCE is passionate about the advancement of civil engineer’s leadership development and advancing diversity within the profession. Being a member of ASCE is a coveted position and there are a number of benefits a student member can get such a free access to some of the facilities of ASCE like journals, newsletters, Insitute memberships – GeoInstitute for example. Being a student volunteer of ASCE’s activities, he/she can get ample opportunity to serve the society. While applying for higher studies or job, a student member can write if he/she has served the society in different capacities. More information can be obtained from asce.org.
On 27 February, 2022, ASCE – RSET student chapter (under probation) activities were flagged off by the Director of RSET – Rev Fr Dr Jose Kuriedath CMI. He has expressed the support and wished for the success of the student chapter in its future activities. Principal of RSET Prof Dr Sreejth PS has specifically highlighted the various significance of ASCE in the life of a civil engineering student.
ASCE-practitioner adviser Dr SP Anchuri has pointed out the roles and duties carried out by a civil engineer in a society. The faculty advisor has delivered the facilitation speech as well as given some short ideas indicating the future activities of the student chapter to the audience.

EKALAVYA 2022 (ASCE Students Conference): "Final year Civil Engineering students presented the project works at this conference, which was held on 08 June 2022. Dr. Job Thoms (Professor & Head, Civil Engg, SoE, CUSAT) was the chief guest in the presence of the Principal of RSET, Prof Dr. PS Sreejoth; HoD of Civil Engg dept, Dr. Rajeev Kumar P; and other faculty members and ASCE student chapter officers. ASCE practitioner adviser, Dr SP Anchuri had sent a message to this program which was read out during the prize distribution ceremony. Best project presentation team received a cash price of Rs 2000 and certificates." |
