Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara started the first Sanskrit school for all – irrespective of cast and creed - at Mannanam in the 19th century and then a school at Arpookkara, a nearby village, where he served mid-day meal to students, using collective contributions called “Pidiyari”, from well-wishers, students, and their parents. That was a great step towards social justice and student empowerment. Following the footsteps of our founder, Saint Chavara Student Scholarship Scheme is initiated as a scheme where our well-wishers, students and their parents can contribute whatever they can, which will solely be used to provide scholarship for underprivileged and deserving students, mainly their hostel fees with food.
This fund will be completely transparent, audited and all transactions to this account will be provided with a receipt from our finance department.
